The e-mail “interface” that is.  Back when I was a freshman, using your student e-mail account was a bit of a chore.  For some reason I decided to see if I could still log in through the terminal and it still works!  This was PINE:

This is why nobody used their student e-mail account.  Well, that and the ridiculous e-mail addresses they gave us: z_jamespj@titan.sfasu.edu.  Apparently in 2000 we weren’t worried about identity theft — my student ID was my SSN.

I’ve dealt with so many students on academic suspension today and I’m getting rather frustrated.  No, we won’t waive your suspension… I know you were just a few points away from meeting the bare minimum… and I understand that you’re a “different student” now…  And having your mom call for you won’t help the situation — So on my break I decided to create a flier for a workshop I’d like to teach:

So many students want to know their “options” — I mean you could do a lot when you’re suspended.  You could get a job, travel, pick up a foreign language or even learn guitar.  You’re going to have 5 whole months of Academic Vacation!

*note* - The College of Arts and Crafts doesn’t really exist…
