“Who needs sleep?”

Monday, May 28th, 2007

“…Well you’re never gonna get it” - anybody know the song?

So it’s Monday and the end of a 3 day weekend. This weekend has been rather productive for me, however it has cost me some much needed sleep. For some reason unknown to me, my mind works better between the hours of 10pm and 2am - things I really don’t like doing (like programming PHP and creating mySQL tables…) are so much easier between those hours. So I did a bunch of that this weekend working on the ZTA website. Note the members page which is actually a dynamic AJAX table linked with… whatever. In short I did a lot of work NOW so I won’t have to do a lot of work LATER. I don’t deal well with inefficiency, or repetitive mundane tasks. So that site is nearly complete; just waiting on more content (that is the life of a web developer; always waiting on the content).

So tomorrow I’ve got to go back to my “real” job, which I enjoy but I’m not exactly excited about waking up early. How many of you went to see your advisor at 8:30am? How many of you went to see your advisor period? How many of you even HAD an advisor in college?? I didn’t…

In other news, apparently my home-group has sorta turned into a band; three of us are playing at an open mic night in Grapevine tomorrow night. Should be fun. We do a lot of 12-bar bluesy stuff. Now if we could just find a drummer looking for a single guys home-group…

P.S. - When did getting caught in the rain become such an inconvenience?  I think it was about the time we had to start showing up looking decent to places - like work… blah.

You know what we haven’t done in a while?

Gone to the moon.

I mean how long has it been, 35 years? Apparently we’re going back in 2018. It’s about time…

“To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness. To postpone or delay needlessly.”

So I had every intention of coming back the next day and letting you all know my results from the GRE, but things came up and before I knew it, it’s Thursday (or Friday for my NZ friends).

I really was busy though, finishing up my application for grad school, working, doing some updates for the ZTA website (note the scrapbook page which is directly populated by a Flickr account; genius!). So without further ado, my results.

Bear in mind, I didn’t study as much as I should have…

Okay, I didn’t study at all, I was busy!

And I haven’t gotten the scores from the writing portion yet, but it’s not really factored into my score…

What do standarized tests REALLY measure anyway? It’s just a score, just a number…

okay, okay - I got a 1040. 440 on the verbal and a 600 on the math. I know, I was shocked too! I needed a 950 for grad school and I wasn’t sure I was going to get that! Needless to say, I am extremely happy with the results. Now lets pray that I get into grad school!

P.S. - I added some new links to the blogroll - guess which ones they are and visit them!

“a state or condition of mental uncertainty or excitement, as in awaiting a decision or outcome, usually accompanied by a degree of apprehension or anxiety.”

So I took my GRE this morning… would you like to know how I did?

Because I’m Asian…
